Writing

I never thought of myself as a writer, but when the writer’s club started meeting at my smoothie shop, I did not hesitate to join in. I discovered instead that I was passionate about sharing ideas and most importantly sharing God’s love. If you read something I have written, I want to thank you for sharing your time with me and I pray I write something that will be meaningful to you.

Life at the Roots

I don’t have a green thumb. I am a killer of plants. I am great at taking care of people, but people express their needs. Plants, on the other hand, should just need water, sunlight, and some minerals from the ground.

Hillside Heritage

Hidden in the mountains of North Georgia is the seemly forgotten town of Dial. It has been forgotten by time as well as by people. Its population is scarce with only 1,586 people there if you include the nearby communities of Noontootla, Coopers Creek, Aska, and others. The small dirt road that winds through the plethora of trees leads to a small country church. A church for which indoor plumbing is still a luxury still unafforded. A church in which…

The Sky

Looking at the sky,   It becomes clear to me   The sky is God’s canvas,   He paints for all to see  The clouds are His paint   The wind is His brush   His work is magnificent   He does not rush   This picture is always changing   It never looks the same  Admire its beauty   And glorify His name   The sky tells many stories   And occasional warnings it may bring  But when the message is happiness   Praise you must sing   Today, admire the sky   And glorify His…

First 1,500 Words

Pop, Goes Me… I heard the blood-curdling scream – one like I had heard only in movies….  The journey started on an icy February morning. I sat staring at the computer screen, waiting for inspiration. I was attempting to work on a massive web design project, but I had made little progress. The project was vitally important to me. It meant helping my husband, Robert, keep a roof over our family and food on the table for the rest of…

Friends – by Irma Flanagan

The morning sunlight like an old friend melts the frost on the trees and peeks into my window.  Its presence provides a softness to life and reminds me that a good friend is one who is present, but not too pushy; truthful, but kind; and helpful, but not controlling. Baker’s Bible dictionary points out three levels of friendship.  Sometimes “friend” merely means an association as in “Hello, friend.  What’s your name?”  Loyalty indicates a deeper, reciprocal relationship where each returns…
